At the end of the season comes the most important part of the job. Preparing a inflatable boat for the winter is very important and should be done thoroughly as the inflatable boat spends most of the year in that condition. If you lack experience in canning and preparing inflatable boats for the winter, contact us to welcome the new season more calmly. Poor and unfounded preparation of inflatable boats for the winter significantly shortens the life of the inflatable boat and leads to the unwanted appearance of fungi and breakdowns during the summer.
A few useful tips
When removing from the sea, it is necessary to immediately rinse only the underwater part – fiberglass. Tubes should only be cleaned by hand with non-aggressive cloths or objects.
After you have cleaned the underwater part, the well-inflated inflatable boat should be thoroughly rinsed with the prescribed agents, non-aggressive and abrasive, in order to remove deposits of salt and various impurities. It would be good to send all other vital and plastic parts such as ropes, oars and anchor as well.
After the inflatable boat has dried, the well-inflated tubes should be coated in two thick layers with silicone and left to dry for 24 hours.
Except for the tube, all rubber parts should be thoroughly rinsed and coated with silicone coatings to prevent cracking. The stainless steel on the boat also needs to be polished with a patina to remove the matte color and then protected with certain agents, as this avoids oxidation and retains shine.
Before covering the boat with a tarpaulin, the tubes should be inflated to up to 70% inflation, and then covered and stored in a suitable place for wintering.
With this kind of regular maintenance, the life of your inflatable boat is doubled and it pays off many times over!
